No. Your payers do not need a PayPal Account. Your payers can use Pay It Square with a credit or debit card without having to sign up to PayPal.

What are the fees with PayPal like? 

Paypal charges 2.9% + $0.30 for each transaction.

The difference with our integration to PayPal is that it acts as 2 transactions (one to us, and one to the organizer).  So using Paypal may cost your donors more.
